In 1941 Matuda collected 4849 which he described as B. chiapensis in 1953. In 1970 Matuda described B. oaxacana based on Gold s.n.. S&D p2032 has B. oaxacana as a synonym of B. mexicana but quote part of Matuda 4849 as being within B. mexicana. B. mexicana is now treated as a synonym of B. pallidiflora. See Utley in Flora Mesoamericana 1994 p. 156, and accepted in Luther’s binomial listing
Espejo in Checklist of Mexican Bromeliaceae in Selbyana 25(1): 33-86. 2004 puts B. chiapensis as a synonym of B. pallidiflora but this move is not accepted in Luther’s Binomial listing 2006. |
